David Lipman has been involved in an aggressive litigation practice his entire career. In the area of divorce, he has represented professionals, executives and spouses of professionals and executives in divorces involving substantial sums and novel issues. David has been noted for his thoughtful and creative solutions to complex problems.
David has lectured extensively on prenuptial agreements and complex financial issues in divorce.
David and his brother, Sumner Lipman, obtained what was for many years the largest state court verdict in the history of the State of Maine for medical malpractice. David only represents injured people in personal injury cases (not insurance companies) and has obtained substantial verdicts and settlements in hundreds of personal injury claims.
In addition, David is in active practice representing owners, contractors and subcontractors both in court and in arbitration involving construction issues.
In 2010, David was once again selected for the AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, showing that he has reached the height of professional excellence.
David has been an active member of the Augusta community. He was a founding member of the Capital Area Soccer Club which provides recreation through soccer to many children. David is married to Laura Lipman, a registered nurse and tournament bridge player. They have three children: Dan, a trial attorney in Denver, Colorado; Kimberly, a sales associate in Providence Rhode Island; and Peter who is a Ph.D. degree student in Biostatistics at Harvard. When not working, David can often be found skiing, on the tennis courts or fishing on the Maine Coast.
