Lipman & Katz Attorney Les Wilkinson Martindale-Hubbell Preeminent

Les is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the country's most venerable lawyer rating service, and he was recently recognized again by The Best Lawyers in America for his excellence in corporate law and real estate law. His primary areas of expertise include business and real estate law, commercial financing, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and succession planning. He also has unique experience with real estate brokerage law.

Les counsels a number of Maine's top 100 companies and many smaller companies, individuals and families. He is known for pragmatism, candor and the ability to simplify a wide range of complex legal matters to help clients achieve their objectives.

Les has lectured at the University of Maine at Augusta, taught CLE programs on real estate brokerage for the Maine State Bar Association and the Maine Association of Realtors, and most recently gave a very well-received presentation on real estate law for gathered Maine property tax assessors at the first Maine Property Institute training session. Les is a past president and current member of the Maine State Bar Association. He is also a member of the Kennebec County Bar Association, Augusta Board of Trade and a former director of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Les earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego Law School and his undergraduate degree, B.A. Economics, from Bates College in 1978.

Les has been based in Augusta since 1981, but his law practice has been statewide in breadth. While working for 26 years at one of Maine's largest law firms, Les has contributed his skills to some of the largest commercial transactions in Maine's history.

Les is a devoted family man who lives in Augusta with his wife, Robin, a teacher in the Augusta school system, and four sons. When he is not practicing law, Les has served on numerous boards and committees assuming a leadership position at varied organizations typically devoted to improving the health, education and lives of the citizens of Maine. He is currently supporting the Gardiner Boys and Girls Club Capital Campaign. He is also a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and also enjoys NASCAR, an unusual combination. He has earned distinctions of professional success and the customary plaques and chairs and legislative resolves for his community work, but perhaps all you need to really know about Les Wilkinson is that he prizes most highly the "Unsung Hero Award" bestowed upon him by his colleagues.

His journey to Lipman & Katz, a firm with an outstanding reputation for litigation advocacy, makes Lipman & Katz a "go to" firm for commercial expertise.
